Google Forms Just Got an Analyst: Turning Survey Responses Into Decisions with Gemini

A survey can collect hundreds of useful answers, and still leave someone with the tedious job of sorting through them. Gemini’s new actionable insights feature in Google Forms is designed to help with that next step: analysing responses, spotting patterns and suggesting what to do next.

Announced on 5 November 2026, the feature brings AI-assisted analysis into the form’s Responses tab. It’s aimed at a familiar business problem: gathering feedback is easy enough, but turning it into a clear decision takes time.

From collected answers to useful findings

Gemini doesn’t just provide a general summary of the responses. Google says it writes and runs Python code to analyse the actual response data. That helps ground findings such as counts, percentages and comparisons in the answers submitted.

It can also look across questions to find patterns and correlations, for example, whether respondents who valued one part of an event also tended to rate another part highly. Gemini then summarises key takeaways and suggests possible next steps.

To try it, open a form, go to Responses, and look for Actionable Insights. The feature generates its findings there, alongside the responses themselves. See Google’s announcement and help information for current details.

Where it could save time

Google highlights a few practical uses:

  • Event or product feedback: Quickly see what respondents valued and where they think things could improve.
  • Research surveys: Get an early view of trends and recurring patterns without first reading every response manually.
  • Registration and application forms: Build a clearer picture of who is signing up or applying.

The feature can be especially helpful when a survey combines different kinds of questions. A team might use rating scales, multiple-choice questions and written comments to collect feedback. Gemini can help bring those answers together into a more readable picture.

That doesn’t make every result a decision. It gives you a useful starting point for checking what the responses say, asking better follow-up questions and deciding what action makes sense.

How to use the insights well

AI-generated analysis is most useful when the survey is designed with a clear purpose. Before sharing a form, decide what you need to learn and how you might act on the answers. A focused set of questions is easier to interpret than a long list of loosely related prompts.

When the insights arrive, use them as a guide, not a substitute for judgement:

  1. Check the headline findings. Compare important counts and percentages with the original responses.
  2. Look for the context. A pattern can be interesting without explaining why it exists. Read relevant comments and consider who responded.
  3. Test the suggested actions. Ask whether each recommendation follows from the evidence and suits the people affected.
  4. Assign a next step. Turn a useful insight into an action, an owner and a way to check whether it helped.

Survey answer groups connected to patterns across questions

A correlation between two answers isn’t proof that one caused the other. For instance, people who gave a high rating to one feature may also have rated the overall experience highly, but that alone doesn’t explain why. Treat correlations as prompts for further investigation, not automatic conclusions.

This is particularly important when forms collect personal, sensitive or business-critical information. Review who can access the form and its responses, and share only what is needed. If you’re unsure how your Workspace settings or access controls should be configured, our cybersecurity and ransomware protection service can help you consider the right safeguards.

Check your plan before looking for the feature

Actionable insights with Gemini aren’t available on every plan. Google lists availability for Business Standard and Business Plus, Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, Google AI Pro and Ultra consumer plans, and certain education add-ons.

Business Starter does not include this feature. If your business uses Business Starter, you’ll need to move to Business Standard or Business Plus to use it.

Admins and users also need smart features and personalisation turned on. The feature is rolling out gradually: rollout for Rapid Release domains began on 2 November 2026, while Scheduled Release rollout starts on 19 November 2026. Google says it can take up to 15 days for the feature to become visible after rollout begins, so eligible users may not see it immediately.

For the latest eligibility and rollout details, check Google’s official announcement. If you’d like help reviewing your edition, settings or wider Google Workspace setup, we can talk through the options.

A quicker route from feedback to action

Gemini’s new Forms feature could make survey analysis less of a slog. It can calculate findings from the responses, highlight patterns across questions and offer possible next steps: all from the Responses tab.

The best results will still depend on asking useful questions and checking the analysis before acting on it. Think of Gemini as an analyst that helps you get to the important parts faster, while your team brings the context and makes the final call.
